View in Google Maps
Cedar Falls offers an eclectic mix of modern amenities while honoring its past - where cornfields and prairie grasses meet progressive industrial and commercial development. Home to the northernmost point on the American Discovery Trail and the northernmost point in Iowa on the Great American Rail-Trail, the county offers 128+ miles of hard-surfaced recreational trails, a 10 mile paddler trail as well as an Iowa Designated Water Trail, 6,000 acres of public hunting land, and 815 acres of lakes, rivers and streams where anglers will find walleye, large and smallmouth bass, catfish, crappie and bluegill in abundance. The area’s trails consist of series of loops where outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a one mile stroll around the lake or a 50+ mile circle encompassing two vibrant and historic downtown entertainment districts. Named among the National Historic Trust’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations, downtown Cedar Falls also offers a charming mix of locally owned shops, eateries and nightlife. We have a flavorful mix of eateries, where the locally owned restaurant spots may actually outnumber the regional ones. Cedar Falls offers Broadway live theatre in the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, plus lively and fun plays by the local theatre group at the Oster Regent Theatre. We are a college town, where the University Of Northern Iowa calls Cedar Falls home.
